How are conflicting facts across an enterprise's digital presence resolved?
In brief
Conflicting business facts are resolved by establishing the current fact, its scope and effective date, then tracing where competing versions came from.
Distinguish contradictions from differences in emphasis and scope. Identify the entity attached to each founding date and the countries covered by each offering. Assess a global-service description against actual market availability, then correct the specific mismatch.
A maintained reference identifies the fact owner and authoritative evidence: legal entity records, approved product information, leadership appointments, or transaction documentation. Current pages need enough context to explain historical names and relationships that remain visible elsewhere.
Corrections then follow ownership. Controlled pages can be updated directly; independent sources require their own processes. Recurrence usually points to an unresolved upstream record or an internal handoff problem. Fixing that cause is more durable than repeatedly editing individual symptoms.
