How can an inaccurate claim about a brand in AI answers be addressed?
In brief
An inaccurate AI claim needs a verified correction and a diagnosis of where the error is observable. Updating a company page, requesting a publisher correction, and reporting an AI response are different actions with different owners.
Preserve the full prompt, conversation context, answer, platform, date, and visible citations. Break the answer into checkable assertions. A wrong acquisition date, mistaken identity, unsupported allegation, and missing legal outcome do not share one remedy. A cited page can support investigation without proving the origin of every statement.
Compare each citation with the sentence it appears to support. For a source about a lawsuit, distinguish the filed allegation from any finding of fraud and record an answer that confuses them. For a material mistake, assemble a short correction reference with the exact entity, disputed assertion, dated primary evidence, and accurate replacement wording.
For a wrong source, identify the sentence, correct fact, and shareable evidence in the correction request. For missing information, maintain a first-party explanation as a reference. Track a corrected source and retest comparable questions across the relevant AI products to assess where the error persists.
