How do you keep company information accurate in AI tool and app directories?
In brief
Review the listing, publisher identity, linked domain and live tool behavior as separate records. A directory can keep an old product description after the company site changes, or present an unofficial integration as though it were the company’s own offering.
Find the actual maintainer and update route. Check names, capabilities, geographic availability, pricing references, and relationships to the company. For a controlled listing, publish the correction to the live version and inspect what users see. OpenAI’s GPT documentation provides one example of separate published metadata, builder details, and update state. Verify current availability and product transitions as part of that check.
Where the entry is external, supply precise evidence and request correction of the consequential fields. Keep the official reference and support route clear so readers can identify the genuine product. Test the listing’s link and the relevant research questions afterwards. A corrected directory is a useful factual asset within the wider information environment; monitor downstream descriptions without treating submission to any single directory as a guaranteed AI inclusion method.
