What reputation updates should accompany the sale of a business unit?
In brief
A divestiture needs current ownership and responsibility explained wherever people still encounter the former relationship. Historical association can remain accurate while present-tense descriptions become wrong.
The source review covers corporate portfolios, subsidiary sites, leadership biographies, product pages, support information, and prominent external profiles. It distinguishes the sale date, legal ownership, brand rights, and any continuing service arrangement. Those details should come from the transaction and operating owners. A retained license or continuing support relationship also needs an accurate explanation after the ownership change.
Current resources can explain who now provides the offer and where customers should go. Useful historical pages can remain dated records, with links to the current position where needed. Removing every reference to the former relationship can make legitimate research harder.
External corrections should identify the exact outdated fact and supporting evidence. If domains or pages move, a migration plan preserves relevant routes. Announcing a sale does not by itself update every source that previously described the group.
