What should a newsroom or press-resources page make easy to verify?
In brief
A newsroom should separate current reference material from dated announcements and independent coverage. Someone checking a fact needs to know who published it, when it applied and where to find the current position.
Keep a short factual company description, current leadership references, press contacts and approved images or logos easy to locate. Explain usage terms for reusable assets. Link important claims to the product, research, transaction or operating information that supports them rather than putting every detail into a boilerplate paragraph.
Give announcements descriptive titles and clear dates. Preserve the difference between announcing an agreement, completing it and describing the business after integration. A historical release can remain useful while a current fact sheet changes. Where a later development materially changes an old announcement, provide an understandable route between them.
Label coverage by publisher and date, and link to the original article. A company release and a journalist’s assessment should not appear to be interchangeable endorsements. Use licensed material or approved extracts when reproducing coverage. Assign responsibility for current facts and contact routes so an abandoned newsroom does not become the source of the next outdated description.
