Why can strong advertising coexist with a customer trust gap?

In brief

Advertising delivers a chosen message. A trust gap appears when subsequent research or experience does not support it. Effective advertising can make that mismatch more visible.

Compare the campaign’s support promises with unresolved complaints, service terms, and the explanation of accountability that customers find. Identify whether the gap is a missing public explanation, an obsolete source, or a continuing operating failure before changing the campaign.

The assessment follows the journey from the advertised promise to the evidence a skeptical customer can verify. It compares the scope of the claim with current product information, support content, reviews, and relevant independent evidence.

An explanation can resolve a misunderstanding; it cannot make an undelivered promise true. Where operations fall short, corrective action and appropriately scoped claims provide a stronger basis for confidence than a larger volume of reassurance.
